Ms. Heideliza Batausa, is an Economics Instructor at the University of San Carlos, Economics Department. She works on the socio-economic survey of shell trade in Panglao and neighboring islands. econdept@usc.edu.ph

Mr. Eleazar Bersales, is the Chairman of the Socio-Anthropology Department, University of San Carlos, Socio-Anthropology. In this Project, he studied on the human dimension of the shell trade dynamics of Panglao and its neighboring islands. kyutngasawa@yahoo.com

Mr. Rick Cheong, is a senior undergraduate economics student at the University of San Carlos. He assisted the socio-economic survey of the Panglao Project.

University of San Carlos Marine Biology Party (Top)

Dr. Danilo Largo, is the chairman of the Biology Department at the University of San Carlos, Cebu. He is one of the principal investigators of the Panglao Marine Biodiversity Project 2004. He specializes on seaweed disease and primarily works on the red alga Eucheuma/Kappaphycus. In the Panglao Project, he coordinates with the Principal Project Investigator and the Philippine participants as well as overall logistic support. panglaodl@yahoo.com

Dr. Lawrence M. Liao, is Professor of Marine Biology at the Biology Department, University of San Carlos. He works on the taxonomy of marine benthic algae and coordinates with the crustacean taxonomy group under Dr. Peter Ng. He specializes on the systematics of the Gracilariaceae, a group of economically important seaweed species in the tropics. lmliao@staff.usc.edu.ph

Dr. Danilo Dy, is a professor of the University of San Carlos, Marine Biology Section. He works on the ecophysiology of marine organisms especially macroinvertebrates. In Panglao Project, he is tasked in collecting and sorting parasitic gastropods of echinoderms working with the Intertidal Group headed by Henk Dekker. dydt@edsamail.com.ph

Mr. Noel Saguil, is a research associate at the University of San Carlos for the Panglao Marine Bidodiversity Project 2004 and specializes on molluscs. He is responsible for the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) process - a requirement for the legal permit from the Philippine Government. In Panglao Project, he is the overall incharge of the external affairs in relations to fishermen; to barangay captains; handle questions from Non-Government Organizations (NGO); and Local Gorvernment Unit (LGU). noels70@yahoo.com

Mr. Dave Anthony Valles, is the curator of the USC Marine Biological Collection and is an associate instructor of Marine Biology at the University of San Carlos. In the Panglao Project, he is in charge of the maintenance of scientific supplies; preparation of ready-to-use preservatives; maintenance of sorting/sieving areas, sieving and recycling of sorted residues. dapv_uscbm@yahoo.com

Mr. Michael Cusi, is an instructor of Marine Biology at the University of San Carlos, teaching General Oceanography, Invertebrate Zoology and specializes on GIS and remote sensing application to coastal resource management. He is USC's counterpart to the GIS team of the Panglao Project, working with Céline Chauvin and Emma Alima. mcusi@itc.nl

Mr. Roxie Diaz, is a Marine Biology graduate from University of San Carlos. A certified advanced scuba-diver, he has extensive field collecting experience around the Philippines with various multinational expeditions. He is interested in Crustacean biodiversity and is charged with material seiving and processing raw samples in the Panglao 2004 Project. roxc@eudoramail.com

Ms. Ida Rosette Kintanar, is a Marine Biology graduate from the University of San Carlos. Dr. Benjamin Vallejo, is an assistant professor at UP Diliman and a lecturer at Ateneo de Manila. He specialize on Oliva and Biogeography of reef gastropods and is tasked to collect new specimens with the Intertidal Group . bvallejo@ateneo.edu

Mr. Francisco M. Heralde III, is a Ph.D. MBB student at the University of the Philippines, presently conducting his dissertation research on turrids with Dr. Ameurfina Santos, Dr. Gisela Concepcion, and Dr. Baldomero Olivera as advisers. Ms. Ludivina Landrito-Labe, is the Officer In-Charge of the Marine Invertebrate Research Section, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Central Office. Mr. Wenceslao Niones, is a Fisheries Technologist(2) of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region VII, assigned at the Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Section, specializing on the study of Marine Reserve Areas (MRS). In Panglao Project, he assists in the diving operations as well as in the survey of fish markets.
